For our fifth successive year, CRMT are proud to offer this amazing opportunity to see this elite cycle race and enjoy perfect and scenic motorcycling during your touring holiday.

This fabulous 15-day small-group hub tour ventures through South-West France, the Massif Central and the French Rhône Alpes. You will stay at the beautiful Caday Rouge Chambre d’hôtes for seven nights and a further seven nights in quality hotels en-route. You will also get to enjoy the 2022 Tour de France stages 9, 10 & 11. What better way to see this outstanding sporting event than on a motorcycle tour! Park anywhere en-route and see the intensifying build-up of the caravane and race spectacle for just a couple of hours of your day, a great time to socialise with a beverage!

During this tour you will revel in the green valleys of the Lot, Dordogne, Célé and Vézère. You will visit historical landmarks, monuments and medieval chateaux whilst riding through the traffic-free roads of South-West France, enjoying its amazing green scenery. You will then ride to the East of France to the Rhône Alpes and Mont Blanc travelling through Causses du Quercy and Auvergne Natural Parks. We will continue through the Bauges, Chartreuse and Vercors Massifs enjoying fabulous scenery and motorcycling. We then head west to the base of the Ardèch and the National Park of the Cevennes and Grands Causses.

This experience is what motorcycling and touring is all about. It provides fabulous pleasures for a delightful and memorable motorcycle holiday you will never forget.

ITINERARY

Day 1 – Saturday 2nd July
Arrive and check in at Caday Rouge, settle in, relax and socialise by the pool and meet your new companions before dinner.

Day 2 – Sunday 3rd July
This is the start of your touring adventure and today we head east to Saint-Cirq-Lapopie and Cajarc. We then head north to Brengues to join the Célé Valley for some of the most scenic riding this region has to offer. We will visit Cahors on our return to Caday Rouge – 230 km

Day 3 – Monday 4th July
Our first stop today will be the beautiful Château de Campagne in the Dordogne.  Our scenic route will take us to the amazing and historic Château de Hautefort for an afternoon tour. We will then ride towards Perigueux on the magnificent D5 then head south to the beautiful Abbey of Cadouin – 240 km

Day 4 – Tuesday 5th July
We travel into the Dordogne Valley and to the beautiful bastide and fortified medieval town of Domme and onto Château de Montfort. We will then visit the museum ‘La Rue du Temps qui Passe’ and the historic Château de Beynac – 200 kms

Day 5 – Wednesday 6th July
Today our tour takes us to the stunning villages of Penne d’Agenais, Tournon d’Agenais, Montcuq, Bélaye and then onto Château de Biron and Château de Gavaudun before our tour of Château de Bonaguil, a magnificent 13th century fortified castle – 170 kms

Day 6 – Thursday 7th July
We visit the 16th century Renaissance Château de Monbazillac. This furnished chateau has been a listed historic monument since 1941. After a self-guided tour, wine tasting of its world-famous sweet table wines is offered to all visitors. We return to Caday Rouge via the bastides of Issigeac, Villereal and Monflanquin – 200 kms

Day 7 – Friday 8th July
After breakfast we continue your journey en-route to the Rhône Alpes with a visit to the remarkable and historic Rocamadour. We travel through the Causses du Quercy Natural Regional Park and the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Natural Park for some superb scenic motorcycling. After a quick visit to Le Mont-Dore we will continue our journey to our first overnight stay in Clermont-Ferrand – 320 km

Day 8 – Saturday 9th July
We will start our day early and head to the Rhône Alpes and beautiful town of Annecy for our second overnight stay. This is a great chance to see Lake Annecy flowing into the River Thiou. This beautiful city is famous for its old town and cobbled streets, winding canals and pastel-coloured houses – 300 km

Day 9 – Sunday 10th July
Today will be a casual start as we head to Châtel exploring the department of the Haute-Savoie to see stage 9 of the Tour de France. We will then continue to Le Grand Bornand and our base for the next three nights – 210 kms

Day 10 – Monday 11th July
A Tour de France rest day, so we can jump on the luggage-free bikes to visit Mont Blanc, the eleventh most prominent mountain summit in the world. Take a cable car or the Mont Blanc Tramway to discover this magnificent mountain range – 150 km

Day 11 – Tuesday 12th July
A relaxing and optional rest day. The Tour de France will pass nearby our hotel in Le Grand-Bornand. You will have the chance to explore this beautiful region of the Rhône Alpes, or jump on a motorcycle for a short early morning ride through the Aravis mountain range before heading back to enjoy stage 10 of the Tour de France – 75 km

Day 12 – Wednesday 13th July
Another fabulous day riding, as we head towards the Vercors Massif for an overnight stay in the beautiful commune of Villard-de-Lans in the Isère department. En-route we will see stage 11 of the Tour de France near Albertville and then head west to the natural area and canyon of Ecouges before returning to our hotel – 200 kms

Day 13 – Thursday 14th July
An early start as we explore the Vercors en-route to the Cévennes National Park and the commune of Meyrueis in the Lozère department in southern France. We will travel through the Tarn and Jonte Gorges making this a magnificent riding day with a variation of beautiful scenery – 360 kms

Day 14 – Friday 15th July
Today we will be riding through the Parc de Cevennes towards the amazing Viaduc de Millau, the tallest bridge at 343 metres, higher than the Eiffel Tower! After lunch we will head back to Caday Rouge for a relaxing evening – a pleasant finale to your riding experience with CRMT – 300 kms

Day 15 – Saturday 16th July
Farewell and bon voyage, we hope you have had a fantastic holiday and we would love to see you back here again for another tour.

CRMT can change the itinerary to suit seasonal opening times as required.
CRMT cannot be held responsible for any government Covid restrictions implemented during your stay.

ACCOMMODATION

This small group hub-tour includes seven nights accommodation at the beautiful Caday Rouge chambre d’hôtes. You will also stay seven nights at other superb quality hotels during the tour. Enjoy your first overnight stay in the university city of Clermont-Ferrand, then to the Rhône Alpes and the city of Annecy in the Haute-Savoie department for your second night. We then head to the commune of the Grand-Bornand as our base for a further three nights, this will allow us to enjoy great motorcycling without the need to carry luggage. We spend a further night in Villard-de-Lans in the Isère department situated in the Vercors Massif. Our final overnight stay will be in Meyrueis in the Cevennes National Park.

Your accommodation at Caday Rouge is a beautiful stone manor house with a 19thcentury Quercy stone cottage. All the newly renovated bedrooms are all en-suite with private bathrooms.

Group bookings also have the availability to use our three-bedroom luxury holiday cottage with three double bedrooms and sharing 2 bathrooms.

These beautiful buildings are set within two acres of well-maintained tranquil gardens nestling peacefully in the serene countryside on the banks of the River Lot. There are various terraces around the house, cottage and large swimming pool for outside dining and socialising during the summer season.

Relax and enjoy our private large saltwater swimming pool after a great days riding. The terraces are equipped with parasols, sun loungers and seating for your comfort, enjoyment and socialising, so all you need to do is order your cool beverage from our licenced bar and revel in the tranquillity Caday Rouge offers.

No pets are allowed.

FOOD

Every tour day includes a delightful continental breakfast to get you started.

Whilst at Caday Rouge we offer wholesome daily picnic lunches. We will lunch at some beautiful and secret places of natural beauty throughout these regions which allows you more time to ride and explore!

Evening dining is available at Caday Rouge in our beautiful restaurant where we prepare and serve superb high-quality home-cooked meals. Weather permitting and during the summer months you may dine on one of our many terraces within the tranquil gardens of Caday Rouge. A great way to spend a lovely evening after a fabulous days riding.

Our bar is available to all guests for alcoholic beverages including wines, beers and soft drinks, all offered at a very reasonable price.

We can offer an all-inclusive option which includes lunch, dinner and all beverages throughout your tour. Please enquire.

We can also offer a complimentary shuttle service using our luxury support vehicle taking you to local nearby villages if you prefer to dine elsewhere.

Confirmation of Booking

Deposit: Only a 10% deposit is required to secure your booking. Confirmation of your booking will be sent to you by email. The balance of the payment is to be paid 60 days before your tour begins.

CRMT’s commitment to you: If you book one of our tours, we guarantee the tour will proceed. There is no minimum number required for any CRMT tour to go ahead.

Return of deposit: If for any reason you have to cancel your confirmed booking with CRMT, we will endeavour to rebook your place within the group. If this is successful, we will refund all your money paid to date. The tour will have to be fully booked for this to take effect.

COVID Travel Restrictions: If you are unable to attend your booked tour due to COVID-19 Government travel restrictions, we can reschedule your tour at no extra cost.

CRMT has the right to cancel any tour due to only unforeseen circumstances. If this happens we will return all funds paid.

Note 1
If you hire a motorcycle from CRMT it may only be used during the tour days and whilst with the group. Our motorcycles are not for private use.

Note 2
If you hire a motorcycle from CRMT, a €600.00 Excess Damage Deposit is required before any riding takes place. You must provide a copy of your passport, a valid Driving Licence and International Driving Permit with the correct endorsements. All original documents must be provided on arrival. If you hire a motorcycle from CRMT the mileage is included within the hire price.

Note 4
If you are using your own motorcycle and a breakdown occurs, CRMT can return your bike to Caday Rouge. CRMT may also be able to assist in repatriating your motorcycle to some regions of Europe. A pre-determined date and cost can be confirmed subject to CRMT’s free time and when their tour season allows them.

Note 5
If you ride a motorcycle in France, you are required to wear a safety helmet with reflective decals and you must wear protective gloves. If you hire a CRMT motorcycle, it is obligatory to fulfil these requirements and laws.
